As a fashion design student at the Savannah College of Art and Design years ago, she noticed that Black women artists were often pigeonholed into a few predetermined careers. “Either you do fashion, you do hair, you be a nurse. I didn’t know what it meant to do branding and art direction and creative direction and marketing and ideation,” she says.
